Kinnar pursed his lips a moment. It was somewhat upsetting to think so young a child had been in such dangers, but at the same time, he accepted that it made her who she was today.
“I appreciate anything you can teach us.”
*Her smiles softens slightly and she leans forwards, patting his arm very lightly with her scarred hands.*

“‘m fine.” Kankri grumbled.
“Mm,” Kinnar smiled, “But I would be glad to accept any of your tutelage you are willing to extend. Though you may wish to compare notes with Raine at some point, I think you would like her.”

*She grins, the particularly deep but old scar running down her cheek standing out. That one had been from not paying enough attention when she lived on the island, allowing a jungle cat to sneak up on her enough to get hurt.*

Kinnar picked up the long hardwood staff laying beside the door and placed her hand on it. It was well polished and had a wrapped leather grip.
“Something like that, yes.”
*It’s polished but she can feel the slight dents in it from use, the leather grip having been reshaped in order to suit Kinnar’s hand. It seems like a good idea, at least to have anything. But most of the beasts round here require long-distance attack rather than melee. Still, both of them will need a little more training than just being good with a stick.*
anything for gettin’ them far away?
or just the stick“Er, well, from distant things mostly hiding was the option.” Kinnar admitted.
*She nods then takes a sip of juice from her glass before biting a chunk out of another cake.*

“I wasn’t, once, but these days I am fairly proficient with a quarterstaff.” Kinnar murmured. “We had a small dwelling deeper into the jungle. Finding a defensible position was necessary while Kankri was ill. I don’t think a tree-based shelter would have been advisable at the time.”
Kankri made a face, sipping his tea.
*Jade nods along. That did all make sense after all. While she’d heard the strain in Kankri’s voice, she hadn’t realised how bad he’d been in health since he had been here.*

“We’ve only just gotten to the main settlement here, but we’ve been on this planet, farther into the jungle, for a full seasonal cycle and a half.” Kinnar explained.
*Both ears are pricked up as Jade devours the rest of the cake, listening intently. That certainly sounded like a long time!*

>He feels Jade’s hand softly smooth down his sticky, spiky fur. Jack can feel it get less and less sticky as she goes about his fur with her hand. When she stops, he looks up at her scooching away to chew at a gummy creature from the bag. He stares at it for a minute, but what’s inside doesn’t seem to interest him, he seemed to be fonder of meat. rather than sugary sweetness. He really shouldn’t eat chocolate anyway.

*Jade nods, sucking the tail of the snake into her mouth since the rest of it is now gone. She chews quietly for a few minutes, waiting for that to be done before she talks again otherwise she might choke on gummy snake. How silly would that be!*
i dont really mind being kinda messy!
it just happens when im hunting or just walking round!!!
some people reeeeeally hate it though
*Speaking of messy, Jade reaches up to her hair where she can feel something weighing it down uncomfortably. What is extracted is a long stick, still with leaves that had wrapped itself with Jade’s head. She rolls her clouded eyes after feeling what it was and hurls it into the wood to their right. That was just horrible.*
